Updated Wed, 5/14/08 @ 10:24pm by Roark1138 Assuming he passes his physical on Thursday, (once?) Cardinal fan favorite Jim Edmonds will covering center for the Redbirds' bitter rival, Chicago Cubs. Edmonds was the longest tenured player with the Cards until leaving at the end of 2007. He went to San Diego, where he had miserable numbers at the plate and was struggling to catch up to fly balls -- he was finally released last Friday. Now, less than a year out of St. Louis, Edmonds appears to be headed to the crumbling confines of Wrigley Field.
It will be interesting to see how Cubs fans react, as he was certainly not a favorite. More importantly, how will Cardinals fans react? Edmonds was beloved by Cards fans for nearly a decade and made a clean, easy break in 2007, ensuring his place as an all-time fan favorite among the current generation. He's also put down some roots in St. Louis, recently opening a restaurant, "F15teen".
But now...with the Cubs? Ugh. Join Discussion [2281 views, 65 comments] |
