People are caught up in pennant fever and loosing sight of the long term plan this team is on right now. We were supposed to be crap this year. Bottom of the division bad. Instead we've got the 2nd best record in the league. We've gotten to this point because of how great our young guns have been and how solid our farm system has become. I would be disgusted if Mo mortgaged the farm for a playoff push this year, when we're already poised to be great in 09. I don't want to jeopardize the long term potential of this club in a knee-jerk reaction to shore up our weaknesses in the short term. Holliday is good, but he's on the brink of demanding a huge financial investment and to be honest i'm a little leery of any slugger from Colorado. His home/road splits this season are good, but i'm a little sketchy on how those would hold up over the next 5-8 seasons moving from Coors to a pitchers park in Busch. DON'T TRADE MO! Hopefully people got to see what this team is all about. Once again the SP is getting it done. I thought I heard the ESPN guys say that the Cardinals SP have more wins or have pitched more innings as a staff than anyother team. The team got going early and often giving Lohse the run support. For most of the night Lohse was getting ahead in th count and pretty much pitching what he wanted. I thought for a second that Lohse got drilled on that bunt attempt but the ump got the most of it. Ouch! Defense backed him up turning 2 DP along with Ankiel's great catch. I haven't seen a MLB game in a while that had 5 combined errors for the game. The Mets defense is sloppy. Miles extended his hitting streak to 12 games. Duncan must have found a lucky penny this morning on the way to the stadium. Since coming off of DL Pujols is 9-for-19 with 5 RBIs in 5 games. Not only I'm a glad to see Mulder but to see another lefty on the mound.
