Doing some fantasy baseball researching, as I do alot when time allows lol, I stumbled upon none other than Fernando Tatis, whom I thought was no longer in baseball? Must say, it's good to see him back, and I wish him the best of luck :] _________________

Mr. Two-Grand-Salamis-in-1-inning!!! I was watching the game the other night and saw him hit a HR. I didn't think he was in baseball anymore too. Always liked Tatis. Another player to fall into bad graces with TLR.
Glad he's back and wish him all the baseball luck! _________________ "Hitters Hit." - Cory "Stats" Schwartz, MLB.com's Stats Guru and Fantasy 411 co-host |

Strange career, very strange. Must be more to the story, didn't play ball at all in 04 & 05. Would appear TLR only but one of 100s that he was in 'bad graces' with.
Could be a Comeback Player candidate. Although, the way the Mets are going, we might see Darryl Strawberry, Dwight Gooden & Keith Hernandez suited up @ Shea any day now too.

The Tatis-Britt Reames for Dustin Hermanson - Steve Kline trade gave me five years of always-trust-Walt-Jocketty-ness that didn't end until the day of the Mulder trade.
I remember thinking at the time that it was a horrible, dreadful, worst-trade-ever-made deal.... the offensive prowess of Tatis and our young fireballer Britt Reames for career sub-mediocre starter Hermanson and some lefty setup man? I thought Walt was out of his mind. It ended up being one of the Cards' greatest trades ever. |

Greatest trades ever? Explain. Hermanson only lasted a year, then was traded, but he came back for a brief period.
Kline was good, but I don't think that merits one of the greatest trades ever. _________________ The STL Cardinals are my favorite baseball squadron. |

Sorry, I meant in relation to both my expectations and what we gave up. Tatis and Reames both completely fizzled out, and Hermanson and (especially) Kline were key cogs for the Cardinals. But you're right, this one definitely doesn't go down in the annals of Cardinal Trade History. |

Behind the scenes story?
His head became as large as his 2 GS in 1 inning. He started focusing on hitting the dong and came up short too often.
He was also smitten with injuries. I think he suffered some bad hammy issues. If I recall, that was the same year Vina had issues and the Cards at the time were Hammy prone. |

I will never forget April 23, 1999. 2 Grand Slams in the same inning by Tatis. I always liked him, he can a good stint back with the Mets. _________________

I was on another board and Hermanson himself broke the trade over there. I remember thinking it was an interesting one, but who was going to play third? I mean, yeah, that Pujols guy was at 3B, but he was at least a year away, right?
Not so much, really. _________________ C70 at the Bat, updated 7/17

I remember that trade too.
Hermanson was really a highly rated pitching prospect early in his career, but Reams was tearing up the PCL at Memphis...and Tatis seemed to have a high cieling. _________________ Go Crazy Folks!

Tatis plays the OF, makes tumbling catch @ wall in 2nd, drives in 3 runs, including walkoff 2-run double in 12th inning for Win.

Yeah, I remember Tatis. He's ranked as an A- on All Star Baseball 2001! Gotta love the Nintendo 64 baseball nostalgia. Ankiels an A- (as a pitcher) too. _________________
