MUCKDOGS SIGN MANAGEMENT AGREEMENT WITH ROCHESTER RED WINGS
The Genesee County Baseball Club today announced that it has reached an agreement with Rochester Community Baseball Inc. to have the Rochester Red Wings run the day-to-day operations of the Batavia Muckdogs for the 2008 season. This announcement came at a joint press conference held by both GCBC and RCB, Inc.
The agreement is a one-year contract with multiple one-year extensions possible, contingent upon the approval of both parties.
“The entire Batavia Muckdogs organization is overjoyed to be partnering with the Rochester Red Wings who are justly regarded as one of the greatest organizations in all of professional baseball. To be engaged with an elite group of proven professionals is very, very monumental for the City of Batavia. They bring to the Muckdogs decades of experience and success,” said Brian Paris, president of the GCBC, the non-for-profit that owns the Batavia Muckdogs.
The Rochester Red Wings bring stability to Batavia through solid relationships in baseball and the business community, and their experience in operating a successful baseball organization for many years.
“This is a very proud time for the Red Wings. We are so pleased to be in a position to help out in this situation. Batavia has proved itself to be a good baseball town for decades. We think we’ll not only bring back some of that prior success, but that we’ll be able to bring it to a new level,” said Red Wings Chairman of the Board and Chief Operating Office Naomi Silver.
“We want to restore baseball stability in Batavia, by giving it solid footing going forward. Our staff in Rochester is eager to assist the Muckdogs’ front office in the turnaround of this organization. We believe our fans and sponsors in Rochester will enjoy the new opportunities that the Muckdogs affiliation will bring us,” added Silver.
“I want to express our excitement at the news that the Red Wings have taken on the challenge of keeping the Muckdogs in our community. The Muckdogs are ingrained in the fabric of the City of Batavia. It would be hard to think of Batavia without baseball. I would like to thank those involved in GCBC and the Muckdogs organization who have worked so hard to make this a reality,” said Charlie Mallow, Batavia’s City Council President.
“ I am asking the people of Genesee County to support the Muckdogs and the Red Wings in this endeavor so that we can make sure our team stays where it belongs for years to come,” added Mallow.
“I have attended several Muckdogs games and have always enjoyed this pleasant atmosphere and the very friendly people whom I see there. I am delighted that the Red Wings have the opportunity to be partners in a program to ensure the preservation of professional baseball in Batavia. I look forward to an exciting year of baseball in Genesee County!,” said Rochester Community Baseball, Inc. President Gary Larder.
“The Red Wings are a very classy organization. Our dealings with Naomi Silver and Gary Larder over the past several months have been both an honor and a pleasure. I am confident that they will take the Muckdogs to new levels. I look forward to seeing everyone at Dwyer Stadium this summer,” added Paris.
“I congratulate the Batavia and Rochester club officials for the time and care they took to craft an arrangement that resolves long-term management and financial issues concerning the Batavia Muckdogs franchise. Batavia is the lone founding club left in the New York-Penn League and keeping baseball here is viewed as a big win for both the Batavia community and the New-York-Penn League,” said Ben Hayes President of the New York-Penn League.
All agreements are subject to the New York-Penn League and the office of Minor league Baseball (NAPBL).
The Batavia Muckdogs home opener is June 18 vs. Auburn. _________________ One year I hit .291 and had to take a salary cut. If you hit .291 today, you'd own the franchise.

Welcome Batavia Muckdogs
This Season marks the beginning of a new era in the proud history of professional baseball in Batavia. 2008 is the first season that the Batavia Muckdogs, Genesee County's only professional sports franchise, will be operated by the Triple-A Rochester Red Wings. The Red Wings have a proud history as well, dating back to 1885, and for over a century have entertained fans and sponsors alike. The Red Wings look to bring the same brand of family-oriented, affordable entertainment to Batavia that had garnered them national recognition thoughout the baseball industry. It will surely be "a whole new ballgame" at Dwyer Stadium this summer!

it will be interesting how LYNN does because that article on stlcardinals said he tossed a session at busch the other day and impressed... It says he will start in the pen and work into the rotation because the break he has had since he last started for OLE miss..
does anyone know what he will be in the majors. Are they gonna groom him for a reliever or starter...The reason i ask is because relievers tend to make it through the minors quicker _________________ The Future is Bright... |
